DONNA MAE McMANN

1944-2023

Donna Mae (Brown) Mc-Mann, one of six children of Delfoy and Sirilidia Jane (Northey) Brown, was born July 6, 1944, at Pawnee City, Nebraska. Donna grew up attending school in Table Rock, Nebraska.

On August 12, 1960, Donna was united in marriage to Larry McMann at the Nemaha County Courthouse in Auburn, Nebraska. The couple would be blessed with three children: Laurie, Dean, and Leigh.

Through the years, Donna was employed by Missouri Beef Packers, the Brownville House, and Legion Club in Auburn, but spent a majority of her career working as a Certified Nursing Assistant at the Nemaha County Hospital in Auburn.

Donna was a member of the Brownville Christian Church. She enjoyed gardening, making jewelry, and the occasional trip to the casino. Donna and Larry also loved going on camping trips and fishing, but Donna’s greatest joy came from time spent with her grandkids.

In the early hours of Friday, December 15, 2023, Donna passed away at her home in Auburn, surrounded by her family, having reached the age of 79 years, 5 months, and 9 days. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Loren and Don Brown, sisters Mary Bacon and Dorothy Morton.

Those left to mourn her loss include her husband Larry of Auburn; daughter Laurie and husband Jim Chinowth of Omaha; son Dean and wife Lana McMann of Corning, IA; daughter Leigh and husband Pat Sims of Auburn; 14 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; sister Annie of Riverton, IA; sisters-in-law Shirley of Peru, Carol of St. Joseph, MO; honorary sister Kim Bradley (Scott Young); other relatives and friends.

A memorial service was held Wednesday, December 20, 2023, at Hemmingsen Funeral Home officiated by Don Wamsley. Urn bearers were grandchildren Nancy (Travis) Miller, Brenda Byfield Jones, Melanie (Nick) Drake, Kendra (Dylan) Donnelly, Cody (Megan) McMann, Makayla McMann, Tucker Judd, Morgan Judd, Callie Judd, Sophie Judd, Gunner Judd, Jace Sims, Charlie Ketcherside, and Nick Ketcherside. Honorary bearers were great-grandchildren Dillyn Miller, Blaine Miller, Benjamin Jones, Alexander Jones, Madelynn McMann, Tristan Petersen, Brantley Donnelly, Hunter Lupardus, Jack Farmer, Aidan Halper, McCoy McMann and greatgreat- grandchild Lailah Miller. Burial of ashes will take place at a later date in Walnut Grove Cemetery at Brownville.
