Auburn Will Host July 28 Ribbon Cutting for New EV Charging Station

The Auburn Board of Public Works and Nebraska Public Power District will partner for a ribbon cutting event Wednesday, July 28 at 10:30 a.m. The ribbon cutting with formally celebrate Auburn’s ChargePoint DC fast charger located at 830 Central Avenue, north of the Auburn Design shop in the alley.

“This is an important step in providing a much-needed product for area residents and for all electric vehicle owners traveling through our community,” said Auburn Board of Public Work General Manager Dave Hunter. “We have seen and heard first-hand about the hesitation to purchase EV’s because of range uncertainty and lack of charging facilities, and Auburn is excited to help grow interest and satisfy demand by users.”

The DC Fast Charger is easy to use and is an option for charging an EV in a short amount of time for those traveling long distances, and just 30 minutes of charging with the DC fast charger provides most cars with 70-75 miles of range.

The public and electric vehicle owners are invited to attend and learn more about EV’s and to get a sneak peek at NPPD’s newest EV vehicle, a Mustang Mach-E, a five-door electric crossover SUV produced by Ford.
