Auburn Volunteer Fire Dept. Seeks to Upgrade Its Extrication Equipment

The Auburn Volunteer Fire Department is in the process of upgrading its equipment used to extricate individuals from damaged motor vehicles and in other instances where a person may be unable to free himself or herself.

Volunteer Fireman Derek Bohling provided the newspaper with information regarding the equipment currently available and that which is being sought to replace it.

Storm Series 2 Tools being considered for purchase:

— a Spreader weighing 56 pounds that has a maximum spread force range from 56,128 to 228,126 pounds and a spread distance from one-half to 28 inches.

– a Cutter weighing 54 pounds with a blade opening of 7.4 inches;
