Wrestlers from all corners of Nebraska journeyed to Omaha Thursday, February 15 to compete on the biggest stage of the season. The NSAA State Wrestling Championships were held at the CHI Health Center, and the athletes gave it everything they had from the moment the first whistle blew until the last hand was raised.
Entering the boys D1-1 subdistrict tournament in Johnson, the top rated Eagles are the only team in class D1 without a blemish on their record. Johnson-Brock knocked out their final opponent of the regular season with a 58-46 home win over the Mead Raiders.
With a 21-2 record, The Lady Eagles earned a chance to punch their ticket to the state tournament for the second year in a row with a game in Johnson. Now in the win-or-go-home stage of the postseason, the #4 Lady Eagles will host #13 Bancroft Rosalie (16-6) on Friday, February 13. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m.
Auburn surpassed the 20-win mark this past week with three wins over Syracuse, Lincoln Lutheran, and Cross County all at home.
Following a loss to Falls City Sacred Heart in the Pioneer Conference final, the class D1 #4 rated Lady Eagle basketball team gained some momentum heading into subdistrict with a pair of double digit wins at home over Freeman on Thursday, February 8 and HTRS on Friday, February 9. Junior Taryn Ottemann totaled 20 points against the Falcons and 19 against the Titans to lead Johnson-Brock in scoring for the week.
