DELORIS K. STIERS

1927-2020

Born to Ben and Perle Hall on April 28, 1927, Dee was the youngest of seven children. She grew up on the Hall family farm between Brownville and Nemaha and lived in Nemaha County her entire life. She graduated from Nemaha High School and was a member of the Nemaha Christian Church.

Dee was married to Roland Stiers on August 6,1944 and was a loving wife and mother. The couple’s early years were spent farming, and for many years they operated Stiers Sinclair Service Station in Nemaha. Together they raised three children. For 19 years following Rollie’s death, Dee lived independently and maintained her home in Nemaha.

Family was so very important to Dee, and she loved hearing from her many nieces and nephews. Dee had a sharp mind and enjoyed reading. Her interest in current events stayed with her through her final days.

In September she was hospitalized for a short time and then went to be with her daughters in Springfield, Missouri, where she passed away peacefully on October 6, 2020, following a brief illness, at the age of 93 years. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Dee was preceded in death by her parents; husband Roland Stiers, grandson Kyle Lock, and son-in-law Stanley Lock.

She is survived by her children Dennis (Sara) Stiers, Shubert, Nebraska; Debra Miller, Springfield, Missouri; and Denise Lock, Republic, Missouri; granddaughters Dana (James) Berger, Lincoln, Nebraska; Lauren (Cameron) Griffith, Lubbock, Texas, and Kelsey (T.J.) Reichert, Ionia, Missouri; great-grandsons Brennan and Brogan Berger, and Harper and Roland Griffith.

Also surviving Dee are her brother-in-law Alan (Twila) Stiers and sister-in-law Karlyne (Don) Eitzmann, who were all very special to her, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.

Services will be held on Saturday, October 24, 2020, at the Nemaha Christian Church, Nemaha, Nebraska. Visitation with the family will begin at 9:30 a.m. with service following at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow at the Prairie Union Cemetery, Shubert, Nebraska.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Nemaha Rescue Squad.
